Yankees 2024 season preview: expected starting lineup, rotation, and Juan Soto’s role in the team’s World Series aspirations.

The New York Yankees finished the previous season with their poorest record in thirty years, 82-80. They were in fourth place, did not make the playoffs, and nearly had their first losing season since going 76-86 in 1992. The season was ultimately disappointing, even though Aaron Judge almost equaled 2022’s 62-homer pace while healthy and Cy Young Award winner Ace Gerrit Cole won.

“We are fully aware that the previous season was not what any member of this team desires, demands, or anticipates,” Yankees manager Aaron Boone declared on the opening day of spring training. “And from ownership to the front office to the coaches and staff to the players, I would say we have put so much effort into that that I do believe we have adequately prepared. We’re prepared to go. Still, we must demonstrate for you.”

An eventful offseason followed that poor season. The Yankees acquired Alex Verdugo and Trent Grisham to bolster an outfield that was lacking behind Judge in 2022. Juan Soto is expected to be the team’s most significant left-handed bat since Robinson Canó was at the top of his game. Additionally, Marcus Stroman was signed to complete the rotation.

There is talent on the Yankees. Cole leads the field in both durability and dominance when it comes to hitters, and Judge and Soto are among the greatest in the game. This year’s questions for the Yankees are whether they can continue to use that skill on the field as much as they have in the past and whether any other players can advance. Let’s take a sneak peek at the forthcoming Bronx season.
