Worrisome health report from Ronnie O’Sullivan following victory in the World Snooker Championship

In the opening round of the 2023 World Snooker Championship on Saturday, Ronnie O’Sullivan defeated Pang Junxu.

Ronnie O’Sullivan has disclosed that he has been fighting a sickness during the 2023 World Snooker Championship. On Saturday, the 47-year-old proved to be too strong for Pang Junxu, winning 10–7 to advance to the World Championship championship, which would be a record eight in the modern period. In the second round, Ding Junhui or Hossein Vafaei will go up next.

Pang’s comebacks were defeated by O’Sullivan, who then sealed the win with an 81 break.
Additionally, the 47-year-old revealed to Eurosport during the match that he has been dealing with a medical condition that has negatively impacted his legs and limbs.

O’Sullivan said, “I’m glad it’s over. I have a bug, and I’ve been hanging all day.”

“My limbs and legs have vanished. Every frame, I was anxious to cross the line. It’s a terrible sensation.

“A few weeks ago, I fell unwell, and now I’m feeling quite weak and unable to even get up.

“Perhaps I ought to stay near the Crucible and distribute my bug to everyone!
I should probably stay near the Crucible and distribute my bug to everyone.

O’Sullivan also expressed to the BBC his desire to follow in the footsteps of Stephen Hendry, the former World Championship winner despite having a broken arm.

“I felt heavy, unsteady, and helpless. “I simply wanted to cross the boundary,” he said.

“You have to go through such circumstances sometimes. With a fractured arm, Stephen Hendry emerged victorious in this World Championship. I have a little ailment. It reminds me of glandular fever, an illness I suffered many years ago.

“It just drains all of your energy, but you still fight—this is a world championship, after all.”

Additionally, O’Sullivan couldn’t help but criticize Vafaei, who has previously urged the seasoned snooker player to quit.

“The person who stated… Hossein VafaeiI can’t recall what he said about me,” he remarked.

After learning that Vatafei had urged him to give up the sport he had controlled for so long, O’Sullivan continued, asking, “Has he been saying much this year?

“I believe he has mastered silence. Stay out of my cage!

“I’m simply enjoying myself. I enjoy it when people give me stick or call me out because it makes me feel hot and bothered.

“I need it to get me excited, so I’m hoping someone will say something to give me an excuse to perform.

However, they are unlikely to say it today as they are aware that it is a poor strategy.

After making his stage debut at the Crucible last year, Vafaei is excited to face Ding.

He said, “I play snooker because I was born for it, I dream for it, and I love to play in the big arenas.”

“It’s no secret that I had to overcome a lot to get this point.

I now want to experience every major venue—both visually and aurally. This year was very amazing for my first Masters.

I had a great time performing in London, and I was amazed by the number of people applauding me.

“They are thinking they are top players in their minds from the top 16 point of view,” he continued.

However, they become more respectful of you and cool down when you steal a few frames from them.

“They begin to tremble as soon as they feel pain. I can inflict such agony on anyone.

“Who knows what I can do if I give it my all on the field. It doesn’t matter what name is in the other chair.
