World Grand Prix Snowbird 2024 Live – Mark Selby takes against Yuan Sijun while Donald Trump battles to regain the lead
YUAN 3-1 SELBY (9-38)
And he doesn’t really go forward at all, giving Yuan an opportunity to get back to within one on the green.
Yuan sends the black into the yellow bag and slams a red into the left corner. But he chooses green to the other corner, and a moment later he misses a blue he shouldn’t have. A difficult but possible opportunity for Mark to close out.
3-1 YUAN SELBY (0-25)
Not for very long. Mark is left with a tough diagonal to the right corner when he misses a red. After glancing, he decides to play it safe and says, “nah.”
3-1 YUAN SELBY (0-20)
Yuan gets away after flubbing a beginning and sliding a great broon to the middle.
YUAN 3-1 SELBY (0-8)
Yuan deserves credit for standing by himself and nailing a red in the right corner and a nice black one as well before missing in the center. He leaves nothing behind, but he will be aware that any mistake in the upcoming safety swap could spell disaster.

A dish from an expert. Young man, eat that.
53-50 SELBY 2-1 YUAN
Make a pots and balls mark. It’s insane how confident you could be that he would succeed.
YUAN 2-1 SELBY (38-50)
Mark bins the easiest reds and then angles in to loz another while working on the harder one. He executes the shot flawlessly, and Yuan, who has had many opportunities in every frame, will be killed if the unavoidable occurs.
YUAN 2-1 SELBY (7-50)
Now that the match is officially underway, Yuan is up next. After considering his options, he drops in a pretty fine blue, wanders up the table, and falls on nothing. He goes for pretty much everything tonight, so he assaults a blue to the yellow, misses, and Mark has a 33-minute window to take. He opens the pack almost instantly, giving you an opportunity to re-enter the frame at.
YUAN 2-1 SELBY (0-43)
Sticking black into right corner, Yuan makes the following ball much harder and needs to go up the table, thus no 147. Maybe there won’t be a respite either, since he has to deal with a red to right-middle right away, which he misses but leaves nothing.
YUAN 2-1 SELBY (0-24)
Yuan enters and tries to nail the black to the green; if it penetrates, he’s in; if not, he’s in trouble. However, it’s located just in the middle of the pocket, and he can score a lot of points there, with the previously mentioned black available and reaching both corners.

SELBY-2-1 YUAN
88 for a run, and things are getting warmer.
YUAN 2-0 SELBY (0-84)
Yuan secures the frame, and since he’s playing well, he truly deserves one.
YUAN 2-0 SELBY (0-45)
Ken chortles, “He probably lives closer than that!” as Mark misses a red to left corner by miles. By the way, Yuan will be the next person to enter, and the table is still tempting. Mark should be in the picture because he approaches a long red so closely and then notices the white drop into the yellow bag.
YUAN 2-0 SELBY (0-41)
Aw, Yuan. Oh, friend. He cues over a straight diagonal that you never saw him miss, and in order to secure a frame that he will have thought was his, he now needs to prevail in a safety exchange.
YUAN 2-0 SELBY (0-15)
Yuan deftly escapes, and his second red—a cut-back from the side cushion—is quite entertaining. He’s going to have to break the pack soon, and the outcome there could determine the frame. Unlucky to watch the red he was going to hit vanish through a little crack and down the table, he goes through the early doors.

YUAN 2-0 SELBY
Yuan will need to put in more work to win from here with twenty-eight and the frame.
