WINNERS OF THE SERIES AWARD ANNOUNCED: NATIONAL HIGH AVERAGE
Texas’s ARLINGTON The PWBA Player of the Year winner, Jordan Richard of Tipton, Michigan, has earned the title of woman with the National High Average for the 2022–2023 season, adding another achievement to her impressive résumé.
Richard is one of the nine recipients of awards that were given out in recognition of their season-long efforts. Adult male and female USBC members as well as adolescent USBC members in the male and female categories are given the USBC National High Average and Series Awards.
In the Sportsman league at Monroe Sport Center in Monroe, Michigan, she averaged 252.27 over 69 games. Her season-long play has also vaulted her to the top of the women’s all-time average chart, surpassing Shannon Pluhowsky, a fellow PWBA member, who had held the highest average with 250.7 throughout the 2017–2018 campaign.
Richard won the top average in 2020–2021 and is claiming it again this season.
Ben Trueg of Parkersburg, Iowa, who averaged 253.52 for 69 games in the Wednesday Afternooners league at Maple Lanes in Waterloo, Iowa, wins the men’s high average title for 2022–2023. He had five games with 800 series and five games with 300 during his season.
Melia Mitskavich of DuBois, Pennsylvania, and Ethan Crouse of Lowville, New York, are the recipients of the youth high average honors.
In 75 games in the DuBois Lanes Juniors league at DuBois Lanes, Inc., Mitskavich averaged 236.12. She has taken first place in the high youth female average for the past two years.
Crouse won the young male average in the Lowville young league at Lewis Lanes after averaging 251.37 after 78 games. Crouse participated in the Youth Open Championships with the U18 team that won.
In the adult male division, two competitors with an 899 series during the 2022–2023 season share first place for the USBC National High Series Award.
On December 21, 2022, David Moragas of Slidell, Louisiana, fired the first 899 series at Park Ten Lanes during the Wednesday Pepsi league.
A few months later, on February 22, 2023, Joe Susanek of Imperial, Pennsylvania, had his 899 series at Holiday Lanes during the Valley League 2023.
On July 3, 2023, at Del Lanes in Delmar, New York, during the Summer Semi Classic league, Nikoletta Battistoni of Sand Lake, New York, rolled an 866 series to win the adult female high series title. Games of 299, 267, and 300 were rolled by her.
The top sets of the 2022–2023 season were had by Jameson Cauble of Hampstead, North Carolina, and Jocelyn Smith of Glens Falls, New York, in the juvenile categories.
On January 9, 2023, at Cardinal Lanes Beach Bowl, Cauble shot 877 with games of 277, 300, and 300 in his Monday Youth league.
On February 3, 2023, at Kingpins Alley Family Fun Center, Smith shot games of 245, 279, and 300, for an 824 series during her KPA Juniors league.
