Many people agree that Wilt Chamberlain was the most dominant basketball player in history. A career full of honors: two NBA titles, four NBA MVPs, thirteen NBA All-Stars, seven NBA scoring titles, and eleven NBA rebounding titles. Along with setting a record for the most points scored in a rookie season (37.6), he finished with 2707 points in 72 games.
During his fourteen years in the NBA, he astonishingly made it to the postseason thirteen times. Throughout his career, he averaged 30.1 points, 22.9 rebounds, and 4.4 assists per game. In 1968, the two-time NBA champion led the league in assists.The Philadelphia 76ers, Golden State Warriors, and Los Angeles Lakers all retired his jersey number thirteen. They traveled to Los Angeles to play the Lakers in the regular season. Even though the team lost, Wilt Chamberlain scorched for a game-high 72 points. Elgin Baylor and Jerry West combined for a scorching 79 points on 35-68 shooting to lead the Lakers. Wilt scored 72 points on 29-48 shooting with a 60.4% field goal percentage. In addition, he grabbed a game-high 18 rebounds (tying) without drawing a foul. The four-time MVP made 14 of his 18 attempts at free throws.
Even though the Warriors led by two points at the half, the Lakers rallied in the second half thanks in large part to several crucial plays by West and Baylor.
