Even while he hasn’t quite reached the pipe and slippers stage, it appears like The Rocket has dialed down on his turbo boosters a bit.

Ronnie O’Sullivan, the master of snooker speed, made headlines for years with his drug and alcohol abuse as well as his table wizardry.

Nonetheless, the current world champion, who is 45 years old, a grandfather as well as a father of three, truly does have a more contemplative outlook on life.

And for that, he may give his fiancée Laila Rouass credit.

As part of her studies on health, the Holby City actor has been studying the teachings and practices of the Buddha and Greek thinkers.

She claims that because Ronnie has adopted the concept as well, he is now a more composed cueman.

The days and nights spent partying with rock legends like Liam Gallagher and Ronnie Wood are long gone.

Currently, her partner is more likely to be found cuddled up in bed for an early night with a cup of green tea, according to Laila, 49.

The former Footballers’ Wives star is now creating a workshop, a website, and an Instagram page to assist others in overcoming the stress of lockdown after witnessing the impact on Ronnie.

After enrolling in a Yale University course on wellness and happiness, Laila—who has been with Ronnie for nine years—started a new project about self-compassion.

For me, it has been a lifeline. I’m organizing a workshop based on the writings of the Stoic philosopher Epictetus, whose philosophy addresses how to handle adversity, such as what is happening right now.

Epictetus believed that we had no influence over any outside occurrences. We ought to take everything that occurs coolly and without emotion.

However, people are accountable for their own deeds, which they may reflect on and manage with self-control.

The entire tenet of Buddhism was that life’s experiences are impermanent.

It has to do with altering your mental state. I’ve kind of behaved like that during lockdown. Having this time has been quite beneficial to me in several aspects.

Our eating habits and self-care practices are also influenced by our mentality.

“I did the course but he’s kind of got into it as a result,” Laila said, discussing how Ronnie has been impacted by her new way of thinking.

The term “Intuitive Eating” has a Gwyneth Paltrow-esque, hippy-dippie vibe to it, yet it is founded on actual scientific data and study.

It’s an eating philosophy that empowers you to become an expert on your body and its hunger cues.

It is, in essence, the antithesis of a conventional diet. It makes no recommendations on what to eat or when to eat it. Following your body’s cues and consuming foods that promote well-being are key.

Like me, Ronnie has begun to realize that this stuff does, in fact, work. It only takes a few simple habits that you may include into your everyday life to improve your happiness.

“He has taken to it and is enjoying it. He is aware that he won’t feel well after if he has a huge, fat Maccy D’s.

However, adopting that mentality and eliminating old behaviors is not simple. Realizing what it is is simple, but really putting it into practice requires work. Everything appears to be having an effect.

Laila said, “These days, he’s so uninteresting. He enjoys going out to eat and watching TV.

“Those days of rock and roll are firmly behind us.

Before the epidemic, I would say, ‘Let’s get outside! Come with me to the club. Come with me downstairs so we can dance. We’d be enjoying our green tea at eleven at night because that’s how he is: “No, mate, no, no, no.”

Enthusiastic Ronnie has long been considered the best player in history and the most naturally gifted athlete in the sport.

He checked himself into the Priory recovery center in his mid-20s, suicidal, and received treatment for his drug addiction.

However, Ronnie had a traumatic history.

His father, Ronnie Senior, was incarcerated for murder in 1992, the year he turned sixteen and began his professional career.
