Tyrese Maxey of the 76ers Reacts to Kevin Durant’s Remarks.

The NBA’s elite team assembled in Indiana on Sunday for the 2024 All-Star game, which pitted East against West.

Tyrese Maxey played for the Philadelphia 76ers on one of the biggest stages in basketball history for the first time in his career.

Kevin Durant of the Phoenix Suns gave the rookie Sixers guard a lot of love before he and the other All-Stars took the court on Sunday.

Durant recognized Maxey as one of the new faces of the NBA when he was questioned about some of the best players in the game from the younger generation. Durant will go on to become a Hall of Famer.

“There are a lot of guys,” Durant said to Indiana media. But you can’t simply take the finger at one or two guys when you see so many kids like Shai [Gilgeous-Alexander], Book (Devin Booker), Luka [Doncic], Tyrese Maxey, and Tyrese Haliburton encouraging the next generation of hoopers to become basketball players. These guys are leading the way in this regard, pushing the game’s boundaries and changing the norm for how we should play.

There’s no doubting that Durant, who entered the NBA as the second-overall choice in 2007, has been one of the finest players in the league ever since. He may have taken a lot of flak throughout his career for his prior decisions to join superteams. Durant has a long list of accomplishments in the NBA, including two MVP awards from the NBA Finals, an NBA MVP trophy, six All-NBA First Team selections, and fourteen All-Star selections.

Following his 2020 entry into the NBA from Kentucky, Maxey has received high marks from his NBA colleagues. After four years, the 23-year-old is enjoying a career season with an average of 26 points, six assists, four rebounds, and 38 percent shooting from three point range.

Though he still has a ways to go before he can be considered a legend in the game, the Sixers have a potential All-Star for many years to come in Kevin Durant, who has signed on as a cosigner.
