According to Stephen Hendry, Ronnie O’Sullivan will break the record held by the two men and win the World Snooker Championship trophy an unprecedented eighth time this year when he leaves the Crucible.
Seven global titles between Hendry and the Rocket are currently deadlocked following O’Sullivan’s victory in Sheffield a year ago.
The Englishman will return to defend his title against Pang Junxu on Saturday. According to Hendry, his portion of the record will expire in 17 days.
The great Scot has always acknowledged that he does not want his records to be taken by anyone, but he is prepared for the Rocket to surpass his total of world titles.
Hendry is taking it in his stride, joking: ‘Which is excellent because then he can maybe come on my YouTube channel as eight-times world champion. Everything revolves around me!
To be honest, I don’t see who will stop him. Even while I’ve mostly accepted that he will act, I’m still not thrilled about it.
