After the Suns-Pistons altercation, a player was arrested.
After assaulting Phoenix Suns center Drew Eubanks, big man Isaiah Stewart of the Detroit Pistons was taken into custody.
Phoenix: Before yesterday night’s game, Detroit Pistons big man Isaiah Stewart struck Phoenix Suns center Drew Eubanks, leading local authorities to arrest him for assault.
After receiving a citation, he was let go.
From the Police Department of Phoenix:
At approximately 4:45 PM, while serving as security for a Suns home game at Footprint Arena, two players got into a fight within the parking lot of the arena, causing Phoenix police officers to be called in. Security directed the authorities to the players involved when they arrived. The athletes were recognized as Isaiah Stewart, 22, and Drew Eubanks, 27, years old.
The players engaged as well as other witnesses to the incident were questioned by the officers. As soon as they got to the arena, they found out that both players were having a fight. Witnesses claimed that after witnessing Stewart punch Eubanks, who was slightly hurt, the dispute became more heated. The altercation came to a stop when security separated the two men.
“Detectives arrived to look at the occurrence and gather information. Stewart was given a citation after being detained for assault and released. The inquiry is still ongoing.”
Stewart’s left ankle sprain had already rendered him sidelined. Eubanks participated in the rout of Detroit despite his injury.
The Suns released a statement saying, “The attack on Drew Eubanks was unprovoked, and acts of violence such as this are unacceptable.” “We unequivocally support Drew, and will continue to work with local law enforcement and the NBA.”
