Along with highlighting noteworthy players from Week 15’s game against the Cardinals, offensive line coach Chris Foerster and defensive coordinator Steve Wilks both gave a preview of the team’s next game against the Ravens.

Head coach of the San Francisco 49ers Kyle Shanahan is making at least one coaching change. Defensive coordinator Steve Wilks will move from calling plays from the coaching box to being on the sideline with the players and other coaches starting this Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Prior to practice on Wednesday, Shanahan informed reporters, “We’re going to put him on that field this week, something we’ve talked about for a little bit.” “I think there’s pluses to it and minuses to it, but we’ll see what we like about this week.”

Throughout the 49ers’ current three-game losing streak, the defense has performed poorly. Right now, the unit is ranked 10th in terms of total yards allowed per game. After having a bye week, the team is keen to get back on track against Jacksonville.

Shanahan said, “Just because of some of the stuff you do in the box, all the advantages to it, which are great,” in response to a question about what factors led to the decision to make the alteration. However, I kind of want him to be down and a little bit close to our players. I want him down there so he can talk to players a little more because they’ve had that more in the past with the linebacker communication.”

Shanahan acknowledged that he would have rather been a coach.
