Steelers Territory Amarius Mims and Michael Penix in a New Mock Draft.
The Pittsburgh Steelers approach roster construction in their latest mock draft differently than they do in most others.
With their current roster, the Pittsburgh Steelers have a lot of needs. Furthermore, because of the uncertainties surrounding the team as a whole, it is difficult to mock draft their plans now, even if they will undoubtedly address some of those who are available for free and complete the roster.
Nevertheless, mock drafts continue since it’s the offseason. A.J. Schulte of Pro Football Network attempted to mock the seven rounds, which is difficult to accomplish right now. However, he has the Steelers selecting Georgia tackle Amarius Mims, Michigan wide receiver Roman Wilson, and Washington quarterback Michael Penix in their first three rounds. The reasons for each are obvious: in the fourth round, Arkansas’s Beaux Limmer is selected at cornerback, followed by Auburn’s D.J. James.
To put it another way, the team has signed free agents to play cornerback and center. They thus try their luck at quarterback, receiver, and tackle.
“Broderick Jones needs to be moved from right tackle to left tackle, which is his natural position, in order for the Pittsburgh Steelers to address their tackle dilemma. After that, why not make an acquisition at right tackle for his incredibly gifted former teammate, Amarius Mims? With just eight games under his belt, Mims lacks experience, but he is far from undeveloped, and he possesses the skills to rank among the NFL’s finest tackles.
Jones and Mims together might provide the Steelers’ offensive line a potent duo of bookends as he gets more at ease, Schulte wrote.
Mims is a gifted athlete with exquisite footwork and the capacity to work in open spaces. To be honest, considering Jones’s level of experience, you would expect that Mims’ tape is a little bit more polished than Jones’.
Wilson piqued the curiosity of the Steelers, and Mike Tomlin appeared to be a fan, inviting several players to challenge themselves against him. He is a strong, stocky receiver that leaps into and out of breaks. It was Wilson’s Senior Bowl.
