Spurs: Victor Wembanyama compares himself to Wilt Chamberlain

Although superstar rookie Victor Wembanyama of the San Antonio Spurs is unlike any player we have ever seen in the NBA, a former NBA champion thinks the young Frenchman is a good analog for one of the greatest superstars in the history of the sport.

While appearing on FanDuel’s Run It Back, Metta Sandiford-Artest—formerly known as Metta World Peace and Ron Artest—stated his belief that Wembanyama’s ceiling is virtually infinite.

He will eventually have a season similar to Wilt Chamberlain’s. We will eventually witness something that is going to be dull. They will attempt to alter the regulations since they anticipate that he will be thick and in a rhythm. At some point, you won’t be able to move him, Sandiford-Artest stated. “He is already resilient. He’s not spraying an ankle; he’s fallen. There should be some quadruple doubles and dominance, in my opinion. Additionally, keep anyone from surrounding him with gunmen.

At some point in time, he’s going to have a Wilt Chamberlain type of season. At some point in time, we’re going to see something that’s going to be boring. They’re going to try to change the rules because he’s going to be in a rhythm, he’s going to be thick. You’re not going to be able to move him at some point,” Sandiford-Artest said. “He’s already durable. He’s fallen, he’s not spraying an ankle. I think you’ll see some quadruple doubles, I think you’ll see dominance. And don’t let him get some shooters around him.”
