A sneak peek at three 2024 NBA Draft candidates the Phoenix Suns should take into consideration.
A G League team is in the works, thus the Suns can use the draft to fill a hole or add a player to further their development.
There are 27 games remaining in the regular season for the Phoenix Suns. The postseason comes next, a location that can offer both the greatest and lowest points of the season. But in the interim, basketball—albeit not professional basketball—will continue to be broadcast around the globe.
Even though it’s only February 20th, March Madness is already at the door. Even if we might not be prepared to let her in, we can at least recognize that she is outside by looking at our Ring camera.
For the previous few seasons, the Suns have not placed much value on March Madness. James Jones hasn’t given much thought to what’s going on at the collegiate level as he has developed his challenger in the desert. In 2023, the team was not selected in the first round. or 2022. or 2021. The Suns haven’t made a first-round draft selection since the 2020 NBA Draft.
This season, that will alter because the team will have a first-round pick, though it will be.
The Suns would select 22nd overall if the season ended today.
With the Madness coming up and All-Star Break approaching, I thought I’d put out a few names you should be aware of. I mean, it couldn’t hurt? Since we don’t have much more time today, how about we recap what prospect scouting is like?
Personally, I don’t watch a lot of NCAA basketball. For me, it’s all NBA, all the time. It’s challenging to complete a task “one and done.” I’m depending on the mock draft gurus to provide me with their opinions on the players they think the Suns will choose.
Let me begin by extending my gratitude to Kevin O’Connor of The Ringer. His mock draft is not only well-organized, informative, and a fantastic overview of the upcoming players, but it is also simple to read. I’ll consult other mock draft websites to see who the Suns are expected to select, but I’ll reference KOC’s scouting report instead.

We should rewind Shaq and Penny’s retaliation against Hakeem.
This is who you can watch in March, based on drafts!

Given that Baylor is now rated 11th in the AP Poll, we should expect to see them in the tournament. Baylor, which is currently 19-6, has been producing NBA talent for the previous few years. Last season, Keyonte George, a strong rookie for the Utah Jazz, was selected 16th overall by Baylor.
Other BU alumni playing in the NBA? Shaun Wainright. Know someone who works there? There, he was a tight end. Along with Taurean Prince, Davion Mitchell, and Jeremy Sochan, the Suns’ own Royce O’Neale also attended.
