Several Celtics stars Not sure about Tuesday’s tilt against the Cavaliers.
The 7:30 EST tip-off on Tuesday night in Cleveland pits the Cavaliers, 39-21, against the Celtics, an NBA-leading 48-12 team.
Following their decisive 52-point victory over the Golden State Warriors on Sunday, the Boston Celtics are going on a five-game road trip.
With a 48-12 record and an 11-game winning streak, the longest in the NBA this season, the club leading the NBA standings is destroying opponents these days. They have won their past five games by an average of 30.2 points.
The Cleveland Cavaliers, the third seed in the Eastern Conference, will be the opponent up next. On Tuesday, the team hosting the game, which is nine points behind Boston in the rankings, will be missing Donovan Mitchell.
The five-time All-Star, who has missed Cleveland’s previous two games, had a PRP injection to address a bone bruise in his left knee, according to the Cavaliers. He will miss at least three more games as a result, including this one against the C’s.
On Tuesday, the visitors might also be missing some of their star power. The Celtics have listed Jaylen Brown as questionable because of a left knee injury, which he sustained in Sunday’s rout of the Warriors after a collision with Draymond Green that left him grasping for his left knee.
A day before playing Cleveland, Kristaps Porzingis is still sidelined due to a left quad contusion. He received the injury last Friday during Boston’s 138-110 victory against the Dallas Mavericks when he took a knee to the thigh. He was unable to suit up for Golden State because of that.
Neemias Queta, who hyperextended his right knee last Friday while playing with their G League club, has already been ruled out by the Celtics.
In the lead-up to Sunday’s rematch of the NBA Finals in 2022, Joe Mazzulla stated, “I know he’s doing ok.” I believe he had success with it. It’s nothing major,” he said, adding that he thinks his absence would only last a week or two.
