Regarding the Boston Celtics’ trade deadline maneuvers, Shams Charania

The Boston Celtics were favorites to win the 2024 championship and raise the much-anticipated Banner 18 even before the NBA’s 2024 trade deadline.

The Celtics then pursued two defensive specialists to strengthen their squad in the event of an injury.

Xavier Tillman, Sr., a former backup big man for the Memphis Grizzlies, and Jaden Springer, a reserve wing for the Philadelphia 76ers, round out Boston’s deep rotation with players who can play for the Celtics should their name be called.

However, there are also choices that, even if they have to ride the pine for a while, won’t get distorted.

Updates on Jayson Tatum, Kemba Walker, and Robert Williams’ injuries for the Celtics.

According to Boston coach Brad Stevens, the Celtics will be without three rotation players on Tuesday, though they are all at different stages of getting back into the starting lineup.

Robert Williams III (left knee discomfort), Jayson Tatum (left ankle impingement), and Kemba Walker (left oblique strain) are all out for the TD Garden game against Oklahoma City at 7 p.m. The Celtics looked to be getting close to their peak, but a few losses took them further away from that objective.

The Celtics’ roster is limited due to injuries, but they should still be able to defeat a Thunder team that has dropped 13 straight games.

Walker had a side injury last Sunday against the Hornets, and according to Stevens, he will miss at least the next two games due to it. Stevens stated that Walker will have a new assessment on Thursday and they would then see how he feels.

While attempting to block a 3-point shot against the Hornets on Sunday, Walker sustained a side injury. Walker grabbed his left side and came up, grimacing, and jogging straight into the locker room as he raced toward the 3-point line. Walker claimed he wasn’t sure what triggered the condition even though he was back in the game.

For the next few days at the very least, the injury will persist. Walker’s return appears to be limited to Friday’s TD Garden matchup against San Antonio.

Stevens stated both Tatum and Williams should be available for Wednesday’s rematch against Charlotte. Prior to Tuesday’s game, Williams was assessed as questionable; however, he was later upgraded to out. While they wait to learn Tatum’s situation, Stevens said that among other things, he has been dealing with a bigger workload lately.

Stevens stated, “Jason is just coping with a lot of different things from the extra load that he’s carried, with the ankle being one of them obviously.”

Williams’ ailment has kept him out of the last seven games. Stevens stated that he is “close” to going back, but he was unable to go on Tuesday.
