PHOENIX (AP) — With the announcement on Wednesday by the Phoenix Suns that they had purchased the rights to a G League team that will start play in the upcoming season, all 30 NBA teams now own or manage a team in the developmental league.
The Suns stated that the new team would play in the Phoenix metropolitan region, however they haven’t disclosed the precise location. A fan contest will be held to name the team, and the winner will receive $1,000 in addition to first-year season tickets.
Mat Ishbia, owner of the Suns and Phoenix Mercury, stated, “It’s all about building our organization.”
