There are rumors that the Golden State Warriors will target a star in the 2017 free agency class. The front office thinks chasing a star could offer them a shot at contention because their current talents are progressively approaching a drop in production. The Warriors have a ton of choices for the impending free agency.
The Warriors’ 2023–24 season hasn’t been the best one. With a 26–25 record, they are ranked ninth in the Western Conference. They’ve won five straight since they started to settle into a groove. It’s still evident, though, that the squad needs to address its roster issues.
The Warriors aim to provide Steph Curry with further assistance.
With the exception of Steph Curry, the Golden State Warriors’ stars have continued to exhibit signs of age as they prepare for the trials of the 2023–24 campaign. Given this, a lot of people think the squad will be open to exploring various avenues to assist their top player.
An NBA insider claims that in order to support Curry and possibly keep him competitive longer, the Warriors may look at the free agent class.
The last year of Tobias Harris’s five-year, $180 million contract is upon him. His return to the Philadelphia 76ers has not been mentioned in any speculations, and he will soon be an unrestricted free agency.Despite not being the superstar the Warriors would want to chase, his background may make him a prime candidate. With his ability to play power forward and score three-pointers, Harris can help Golden State stick with their small-ball strategy.
James Harden is nearing the end of his playing days. But he’s still a good facilitator and ball handler, so passing him up could be a mistake. Harden is in the latter year of a $68 million, two-year contract.A superb ball handler will be necessary for the Golden State Warriors to set up Curry and Klay Thompson. Even more impressive is Harden’s ability to pose a danger when he attempts a shot, which helps the Splash Brothers spread the floor.
The Chicago Bulls’ time with DeMar DeRozan is running out. It appears that the Bulls have no intentions about DeRozan’s future with the team. Reports from December 2023 stated that the team and the 6-foot-7 wing were “far apart” in their contract negotiations.
With DeRozan, the Warriors have an opportunity to add a top scorer to their roster. The 34-year-old great hasn’t shown any symptoms of slowing down in recent years and is still a strong scorer.
Should the two sides fail to come to a consensus, there’s a possibility the Warriors will make a move for him if he doesn’t exercise his player option and becomes a free agency. George is one of the team’s greatest options because he’s still at the height of his career and they’re seeking for a flexible wing.
According to rumors, the Warriors attempted to complete a trade that would have allowed them to acquire LeBron James. He may be 39 years old, but he’s still very good and capable of winning a title fight.
During the summer, they will have another opportunity to chase James and match him with Curry. Rumors have said that the four-time champion may decide to join a new team after leaving the Los Angeles Lakers.
