A ‘one-off quickie’ by Barry Hearn has raised concerns, according to Ronnie O’Sullivan, as the snooker dispute intensifies.

Barry Hearn has issued a warning to Ronnie O’Sullivan about taking a “one-off quickie.”

It has been warned to Ronnie O’Sullivan that he cannot earn a “one-off quickie” by participating in Chinese events and that he must honor the snooker players’ contracts. In the most recent dispute over which snooker professionals are allowed to play in which events, O’Sullivan’s manager Barry Hearn practically told him to break his contract in order to play in the lucrative tournaments that take place in China.

With massive payouts promised to winners, O’Sullivan is among many snooker professionals who are itching to participate in more championships in China. The 47-year-old shockingly declared that if he is not permitted to participate in certain competitions on a regular basis, he will give up the sport.

The Macau Five, a group of five athletes, made a threat to withdraw from the Northern Ireland Open in order to avoid competing in any of the events. Despite not being a part of the breakaway group, O’Sullivan has supported his comrades.

O’Sullivan and the other players have now been informed by Snooker manager Barry Hearn that they have a “choice” in the competitions they compete in, but they still have to honor their contracts if they sign them. Hearn told the Metro, “Everyone has a choice in what they want to play in and whether they want to be a part of our tour.”

“I believe the game is in very capable hands. Although we don’t do one-off quickies, there will always be incentives to do so. We are a well-established, sustainable firm that will soon be announcing some exciting news. April will be a major month for us.

It’s true that there will always be those looking to take advantage of others for personal gain, but that is not how I conduct my business and never will be. I wish individuals well if they decide to leave for a fast money; after all, they are responsible for managing their own life and making their own choices.

I promise not to be unreasonable with anyone, but we do have contracts in place, rules in place, and we’re always pleased to have a professional conversation with them. To be honest, I don’t think there will be any major problems because I believe Ronnie in particular is in demand in China. I can see why he wants to take advantage of the large sum of money they are offering him.

However, nothing he does might jeopardize the players’ contracts. It is entirely up to him and not me to decide whether or not he signs the players’ contract.
