Ollie Watkins, a striker for Aston Villa, could be able to play against Brentford, his old team.

Watkins, who signed a club-record contract to go to Villa Park from the Bees in September 2020, has missed time this season due to a damaged knee.

The manager of Villa, Dean Smith, who was formerly employed by both of Saturday’s opponents, believes that Leon Bailey’s (hamstring) and Bertrand Traore’s (hamstring) hamstrings will tire too quickly. Morgan Sanson (knee) and Keinan Davis are still sidelined. Wesley may not make the team since the Brazilian striker will be going on loan in the near future.

Despite hobbling off against Forest Green this week due to an ankle injury, Brentford defender Ethan Pinnock is healthy.

Shandon Baptiste and Mathias Jensen are nearing full recovery from their wounds and will be evaluated.

Mads Bech Sorensen and Josh DaSilva will be sidelined due to injuries.

Martinez, Steer, Cash, Targett, Konsa, Mings, Young, Guilbert, Hause, Tuanzebe, McGinn, Buendia, Hourihane, Nakamba, El Ghazi, Ramsey, Watkins, Moraes, and Ings are the players that make up the preliminary Villa squad.

Raya, Ajer, Jansson, Pinnock, Canos, Norgaard, Janelt, Fosu, Mbeumo, Forss, Toney, Ghoddos, Fernadnez, Henry, Goode, Bidstrup, Peart-Harris, Roerslev, Dervisoglu, Onyeka, Wissa are the members of the Brentford preliminary squad.
