Odoffin helps the Millers hold off their Yorkshire rivals to draw in Rotherham 1-1 Leeds.

With a strong performance, managerless Rotherham held high-flying Leeds in the Sky Bet Championship to a 1-1 draw.

After Matt Taylor was fired, interim manager Wayne Carlisle took over for the Millers, and they fought valiantly to earn a point against their third-place opponents.

As was typical for the first half, Leeds took the lead in the sixth minute after a sweeping move.

Georginio Rutter slipped Crysencio Summerville in down the left, giving him enough time to precisely identify the bottom corner.

The visitors made another lightning-fast move threat, but Dan James missed the mark by a long shot after getting clear.

When the ball fell to Sam Nombe for Rotherham, the striker mishit his shot and sent it over the top, giving the home team a half-chance.

Joel Piroe slipped Summerville in on goal, and Viktor Johansson had to be quick to deny him a second time. Rutter then fired off target from the edge of the box.

Leeds attacked on the break once more after Summerville successfully fended off a challenge from Seb Revan. Glen Kamara was slipped in by him, but the midfielder struck the side netting instead.

At the end of the first half, Rotherham equalized in stoppage time when Hakeem Odoffin took advantage of Leeds’ defensive hesitation and blasted a low shot past Illan Meslier.

Liam Cooper returned just in time to block Nombe’s goalbound attempt, demonstrating his extreme awareness to prevent Rotherham from taking the lead early in the second half.

Leeds made the decision to alter

As United manager Daniel Farke looked for the game-winning goal, Patrick Bamford and Ian Poveda came off the bench.

After Bamford was unable to capitalize on Piroe’s pass, Summerville made a sly run in the box, and the Millers had to mount a last-ditch defense to prevent a Leeds opening.

James then played a fantastic ball that found Wilfried Gnonto, but his shot missed the mark.

At the other end, Rotherham continued to pose a threat, and Fred Onyedinma’s breakaway down the right forced Meslier to make a save.

Late in the game, Leeds increased their pressure, and Pascal Struijk narrowly missed giving Leeds the lead again after James’ cross.

When Jaidon Anthony tapped in late in the game, the away fans believed they had stolen the points, but the flag had already been raised.
