At the All-Star Break, the Celtics are at the top of the standings. What therefore must they do to get ready for the postseason? I asked the employees what they would like the team to focus on as a whole.

Boston’s offensive output needs to be more reliable. While some of their recent absences can be attributed to bad luck, when things don’t go according to plan, there doesn’t seem to be a strategy in place. This squad can’t be stopped if they use the pick and roll more frequently and get Jayson Tatum and Kristaps Porzingis the ball in the post a little more creatively. It would also be beneficial to try defense and box out, but I think the players will perform better in the postseason.

Trevor Hass

The Celtics’ defense has occasionally looked excellent and other times mediocre. It’s time to progress from being a very excellent defensive squad to an absolutely outstanding one.

Tim Sheils

My main worry with the Celtics is offensive consistency, especially late in the game. Even though Boston has been hailed as having one of the top offenses in the league this year, there have been times when the ball hasn’t moved enough or threes haven’t fallen. They certainly possess firepower, but it would be preferable to see the squad respond more effectively in those kinds of circumstances. If it necessitates assaulting the paint or stepping up defensive intensity to generate offense, so be it.

Sam LaFrance

On this one, I’m going to follow Trevor. I think the Celtics could definitely get better at their defensive end of the court. Yes, you can argue that it’s the slog.

The Cs’ habit of scoring absurdly high points on their opponents by halftime has received a lot of attention. The problem is that they’re frequently only leading by single digits even though they scored almost 70 points before the break.
