Patrick Mouratoglou asserts that Novak Djokovic is despised merely for having defeated Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer.
Since he has won three more majors to take the lead in the Grand Slam race, Djokovic has all but put an end to the discussion about who the greatest player of all time.
Along with setting or breaking numerous other tennis records, he has also completed 400 weeks at the top of the world rankings.
Even though those records are self-evident, Djokovic has still had to face hostile audiences this season.
However, Mouratoglou claims that’s just because he was upset that he dared to challenge Federer and Nadal, not only forcing his way into the GOAT debate but also coming out on top.
At the ultimate Tennis Showdown in London, Mouratoglou stated, “Rafa and Roger were the biggest tennis superstars, but Novak Djokovic came in and beat both of them, and the crowds hated him for that.”
“I believe there are other reasons why he is being jeered. Although he claims he dislikes this negativity, he occasionally encourages jeers from the audience because it helps him win matches.
When it comes to popularity, Djokovic is all too frequently viewed as the third player behind Nadal and Federer, with many people saying he isn’t as adored as they are.
However, Mouratoglou thinks that’s complete nonsense and that people don’t realize how much support there is for Djokovic.
Has 14 million Instagram followers, which is something we shouldn’t overlook,” he remarked. In Serbia, he is a great hero. We will all miss the greatest tennis player when he retires from the game because he is our idol.
