Doncic acknowledged that he is dealing with personal concerns and voiced unhappiness with his recent performance. Recently back from a thigh injury, Luka Doncic said the Dallas Mavericks must play tougher and fight harder if they want to get better. After recording 34 points, 10 rebounds, and 8 assists in his return game, Doncic said he needed to take the team’s leadership and step up his own play. During a prior game against the Golden State Warriors, he made a money sign gesture at the referees, for which he was fined $35,000 by the NBA. Doncic also mentioned that he was frustrated with his play of late and mentioned that he was dealing with personal problems.

«We need to play harder and fight harder. That’s all there is to it. We have to demonstrate our concern, and I have to lead the way. All I have to do is coach this group by getting better and playing harder. I’m responsible. With me on the court, I believe you can see it. I don’t always feel like it’s me. Simply said, I’m being seen. On the court, I used to really enjoy myself and smile, but it’s been incredibly frustrating for a number of reasons other than basketball.
