NHL Kings defeat Bruins with a late overtime goal by Brandt Clarke.
Boston (AP) — With 27 seconds remaining in overtime, Brandt Clarke scored his first goal of the game, and the Los Angeles Kings came back to defeat the struggling Boston Bruins 5-4 on Saturday.
After taking down David Pastrnak, Clarke was left in the penalty area alone until he skated in on Linus Ullmark and slipped the puck past the Boston goalie.
In overtime, David Rittich stopped four shots out of a total of 28.
With 1:35 left, Anze Kopitar tipped in a goal to knot the score at four and force overtime. Alex Laferriere, Matt Roy, and Vladislav Gavrikov scored for the Kings, who are now 3-2 since Los Angeles dismissed Todd McLellan and replaced him with Jim Hiller as interim coach.
For the Bruins, James van Riemsdyk notched two goals and added an assist, while Ullmark made 30 saves in all. Boston, which has dropped five straight games and was leading this one 3-1 late in the second, also had goals from Trent Frederic and Anthony Richard.

TORONTO (AP) — In Toronto’s victory over Anaheim, Auston Matthews recorded his second straight hat trick, increasing his NHL-high goal total to 48. He also added two assists for a career-high five points.
With six hat tricks in a season, Matthews broke a tie with Reg Noble (1917–18), Babe Dye (1924–25), and Darryl Sittler (1980–81) for the Toronto record.
Two more than Sittler, Matthews also recorded his 73rd multi-goal game for the team. Matthews has 13 hat tricks in his career.
In addition, Bobby McMann scored twice and assisted twice, Nick Robertson concluded with a goal and two assists, Jake McCabe and Tyler Bertuzzi both scored, and William Nylander added a goal and two assists to surpass 500 career points.
With 19 stops, Martin Jones helped the Maple Leafs move up to 29-16-8. Timothy Liljegren contributed three helpers.
After McMann scored his first career hat trick against St. Louis on Tuesday night, and Matthews added three goals of his own against Philadelphia on Thursday night, Toronto became the 15th team in NHL history to record three straight hat tricks. The tenth player with six hat tricks is Matthews.
In East Rutherford, New Jersey, DEVILS 6, FLYERS 3 (AP) — In front of 70,328 spectators at MetLife Stadium, New Jersey defeated Philadelphia with two goals and an assist from Devils captain Nico Hischier, who also recorded the second-fastest goal to start an outdoor game.
The Devils prevailed for the third time in four games, with goals from Tyler Toffoli, Brendan Smith, and Nathan Bastian. At the Jets and Giants’ home arena, two days of hockey were kicked off with 43 saves from Nico Daws.
The Flyers, who had won their previous five games 4-0-1, were led by two goals each from Owen Tippett and one more from Nick Seeler. 33 saves were made by Samuel Ersson during a game that included..
Three Hawks, two Senators
CHICAGO (AP) — With 1:52 left, Jason Dickinson scored the game-winning goal off a rebound of his own shot, and Chicago defeated Ottawa to end an eight-game losing run.
Driven to the net, Dickinson beat Joonas Korpisalo to score his team-leading 17th goal, extending the NHL’s worst Blackhawks’ winning streak over Ottawa to 11 games.
Jakob Chychrun, the nephew of Blackhawks coach Luke Richardson, added a power-play goal for Ottawa, while Tim Stützle scored and assisted on another. Korpisalo stopped 19 shots.
STARS 3, OILERS 4, and OT DALLAS (AP) – Thirty seconds into overtime and seven seconds into a power play, Evan Bouchard scored his second goal to give Edmonton the victory over Dallas.
For the Oilers, Derek Ryan also scored and Corey Perry added an assist. With his assist, Connor McDavid now has 13 in his past five games.
Calvin Pickard won for the sixth time in a row with 24 saves.
The Stars’ three-game winning streak was ended as Matt Duchene scored two goals and provided two assists, while Mason Marchment and Thomas Harley each scored one goal and provided an assist. Jake Oettinger stopped 20 shots.
