Jaden Springer, 21, thinks he can make an impression when he makes his Boston debut. He is scheduled to join a Celtics club that is struggling with the high expectations of hoisting Banner 18.

Hours before the NBA trade deadline, the Boston Celtics president of basketball operations, Brad Stevens, made a trade for the third-year veteran, whom he had been eyeing since before the Philadelphia 76ers drafted him in 2021. In three games against the Celtics, Springer saw the rivalry up close and personal as he played 11.8 minutes off the bench in Philadelphia.

“I think I can contribute a lot of energy,” Springer said to The Boston Globe’s Adam Himmelsbach. “I think I can benefit the team defensively. Observing how they play, I can fit into the scheme offensively. It’s just a matter of really grasping what they’re trying to get at and playing really freely. I’m very looking forward to it since I feel like I can help them whatever they need me to.

It won’t be simple to obtain minutes in Boston either. Although Springer will sit behind starters Derrick White and Jrue Holiday as well as reserve unit guard Payton Pritchard, he has shown glimpses of talent.
