NBA trade deadline tracking for 2024: Timberwolves get a seasoned point guard, while the Celtics bolster their strong rotation

The NBA trade deadline is on Thursday, and teams are looking to improve their squads for the stretch run or offload spare pieces for future assets.

Deals are already beginning to flow. Trades are allowed until Thursday at 3 p.m. ET, and historical data indicates that teams typically hold off on making the largest deals until right before that deadline.

As the deadline draws near, players to keep an eye on include guard Kyle Kuzma of the Washington Wizards, big Bojan Bogdanovic of the Detroit Pistons, and guard Dejounte Murray of the Atlanta Hawks.

Having said that, a small number of deals have already fallen through. Xavier Tillman was acquired by the East-leading Boston Celtics in exchange for a pair of second-round choices from the Memphis Grizzlies, adding more depth to their already impressive rotation. In a similar vein, the veteran point guard Monte Morris was acquired by the West-leading Minnesota Timberwolves to help them compete for the postseason.

To remain updated on all the transactions leading up to Thursday’s trade deadline, make sure to check back often as CBS Sports will be monitoring every deal that is made.
