Ronnie O’Sullivan has committed to compete in both the World Open and Welsh Open in 2024. The drawings for these events have been released.
This season, the Rocket has chosen not to participate in some events. He was scheduled to face Liam Graham in the opening round of the Scottish Open and will now play the young Scot again in the Welsh Open.
Graham, who blasted O’Sullivan for his abrupt departure from Scotland and called him “disrespectful,” would be thrilled to get another chance at the top spot.
Venue Cymru in Llandudno will host that competition, and the best 16 matches will advance to the main stage. A few days later, qualifications will take place in Barnsley.
O’Sullivan must win a match in Barnsley in January in order to qualify for the World Open, then he must go to Yushan, China, in March.
Only the reigning champion Judd Trump, world champion Luca Brecel, and the two highest-ranked Chinese players are guaranteed to have their matches played at the main stage; the seven-time world champion will take on Alfie Burden in South Yorkshire.
The main stages of the World Open take place in Yushan from March 18–24, and the qualifying take place in Barnsley from January 22–24.
The Welsh Open qualifications are scheduled for January 25–27 in Barnsley, with the main tournament taking place in Llandudno from February 12–18.
