LeBron James of the Lakers Considers Changing the HOF Rule to Allow Active Players to Be Inducted
LeBron James has accomplished almost everything in basketball short of being inducted into the Hall of Fame.
And as soon as he qualifies for retirement, that will occur.
However, even though he and others are still actively playing, the King publicly questioned on Saturday why they weren’t inducted into the Hall of Fame:
Coaches can be inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame when they are still on the sidelines, as James noted. Even though he is still guiding his club, Gregg Popovich, the head coach of the San Antonio Spurs, was just inducted into the Hall of Fame as a member of the 2023 class.
It is a fascinating subject, if nothing else.
Certain players, like the league’s all-time top scorer, will undoubtedly be honored with Hall of Fame inductions. Another seasoned athlete who will undoubtedly be inducted later on is Stephen Curry.
However, the present regulations prohibit players from being considered for the Hall of Fame until after they have completed five years of retirement.
