The latest Jaylen Brown could put the Celtics to the test against the Nuggets.
The Boston Celtics may be shorthanded going into Thursday’s big game against the Denver Nuggets after giving away an 11-game winning streak and a 22-point lead to the Cleveland Cavaliers in the fourth quarter.
According to a team announcement, Jaylen Brown, who scored 21 points in Tuesday night’s 105-104 loss to Cleveland, is listed as questionable for Boston’s trip to Denver due to a sacroiliac strain. In light of certain man-to-man matchups, head coach Joe Mazzulla may choose to start Sam Hauser or Al Horford instead of the injured player for the Celtics.
Boston could use a response, even if it means getting past Brown’s absence, even though Denver is the reigning NBA Finals champs. The Celtics shot just 8 of 25 from the field in their previous game against the Cavaliers, giving up 20 points to Cleveland’s Dean Wade in the fourth quarter as they failed to close the deal. Unusual, but good enough justification to return to the victory column quickly and aggressively.
That gets a little more challenging without one of Boston’s two co-stars.
