Klay Thompson intervenes during Draymond Green and Jusuf Nurkić’s heated exchange.
If you’ve heard this before, stop us: The Golden State Warriors and Phoenix Suns clashed early in the game, with Draymond Green and Jusuf Nurkić getting mixed up.
Naturally, the previous instance of this occurred resulted in Green’s permanent suspension for hitting Nurkić in the face.
Klay Thompson, a teammate in the Warriors, was not going to let that happen twice.
Nurkić dribbled once after grabbing the basketball in the post and pushed Green, who was in the way of his basket, with his body. Following Green’s personal foul call, there was a verbal altercation between the two players in the paint.
Put Thompson here. The 34-year-old guard took the basketball away from Nurkić to put an end to the heated exchange. Although he was called for a technical foul, it stopped things from getting worse.
Following Green’s December strike on Nurkić, the Warriors forward was suspended for 12 games and missed four more while recovering from his injury.
When he started the game on Saturday, Green had averaged 7.8 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 6.7 assists in 29.7 minutes across his previous nine games since making his court comeback on January 24.
In the first half of Saturday’s game against the Suns, Green recorded seven points and six assists. The Warriors were ahead of Phoenix 59–58 at the half.
