Kevin Durant acknowledges being in awe of Bucks star.
MVP of the 2024 All-Star Game was Damian Lillard of the Milwaukee Bucks. With three rebounds, six assists, and 39 points at the conclusion of the game.
Both players and onlookers were intrigued by some of his shots, which came from about the half-court line.
During his post-match press conference, Phoenix Suns player Kevin Durant expressed his admiration for Lillard’s half-court shooting skills.
He shot from the halfcourt line like it was a free throw, which amazed Kawhi and me, Durant remarked. That simply relates to muscle memory, strength, and power. Someone who puts in a great deal of daily effort into their craft in order to be able to perform it without faltering. It was merely a typical, organic motion. They are the best athletes there is. We should be happy that we can commemorate them on weekends like today.”
Lillard’s portrayal serves as a reminder of his brilliance. His outstanding skill level has been overshadowed by his troubles since joining the Bucks. However, Lillard performed admirably on the largest platform of the season so far. Naturally, supporters will be the first to draw attention to the deficiency in defense provided.
Nevertheless, Lillard is undeniably one of the NBA’s top shooters. He can score the ball from almost anywhere on the court.
His next challenge will be to demonstrate throughout the regular season that he can accomplish those things against an NBA-caliber defense. That is the Lillard that the Bucks need to see on the court.
This season, Giannis Antetokounmpo and Lillard together have the potential to contend for a title.
Lillard must demonstrate that Durant’s appreciation is merited. He must demonstrate that the Bucks made the proper decision in making such a bold move to acquire him from the Portland Trail Blazers.
An MVP for All-Stars is an amazing honor. He must now utilize it as a springboard to achieve greater things. That is, after all, the reason he had to push himself to leave Portland in the first place.
