Greetings and welcome to the live coverage of the 2024 Masters by Eurosport from Alexandra Palace in London on day two. Only the best 16 players in the world compete in this esteemed snooker tournament, and today’s man to take the baize is 2019 world champion Judd Trump. He starts at 13:00 against Kyren Wilson, then at 19:00, Neil Robertson fights Barry Hawkins.
Wilson 1–Trump (8–7)
A subpar departure from When Kyren sees white capture blue, he runs safe, but another mistake gives Judd the opportunity to start. But the champ overcuts it by a bit after giving it a lot of thought before taking on a pink to a tiny section of the left corner. He will be glad that a tightly-bunched pack means it doesn’t cost him anything.
Wilson 0–Trump
Kyren required that. If he had lost it, he would be in a bad predicament, especially because he needs a sitter to keep it secure, but since he now owns it, Judd is in a difficult situation.
Wilson 0–TRUMP (27–69)
Hiding white behind yellow and brown, Judd chases and wins his snooker. Kyren then declines a thin cut since he’s becoming uneasy, but Judd still requires blacks with every color and red. It was a lively start, though, as Kyren flukes a starter into left center for a little while.
TRUMP 0-0 WILSON (27-69) Judd chases his snooker… and gets it, hiding white behind yellow and brown. Kyren then declines a thin cut – he’s getting nervous – but Judd still needs blacks with both reds and all the colors. Not for long, though, as Kyren flukes a starter into left-center, and that was a fun start. TRUMP 0-0 WILSON (23-69) Judd is having trouble transitioning from high-value color to red. As a result, he tries pink to the yellow, jawses it, and as a result now needs a snooker. In communications, Nealf believes he should’ve gone for the easier blue, with the caveat that he’s capable of such brilliance it’s hard to chastise him for taking on difficult balls.
WILSON 0-0 TRUMP (7-69)
That being said, he ends well short of the blue, but not before salvaging the moment with a brilliant shot that loops in and out of baulk, only to miss a perfect dolly to the left corner! He walked around the table, thinking it was down, but it never looked good, and with 65 remaining, Judd had a chance to steal 62 behind.
Wilson 0–TRUMP (7–59)
Kyren remains on a red since it appears to be heading into the right middle’s far jaws, but it manages to wriggle down and he should clinch the frame from this position.
WILSON 0-0 TRUMP (7-26)
Judd fouls and misses the next one, tucking it away to the left corner. However, he misses an easy second red, giving Kyren a chance. He appears to be in good form today and is aware that winning from the front is far more likely than from behind.
LET’S GO!
THE BOYZ CRAZE
However, Kyrizzle seems to have forgotten about Sandstorm. Shame.
EQUAL TO KYREN
His young boys, who both enjoy snooker, will be there to see him, and he enjoys this “gladiatorial mega adrenaline rush” event. Although he hasn’t been having a fantastic time lately, he is far too excellent to give up and maybe start over now.
JUDD CONVEYS
He says he really looks forward to the Masters, which is an uncommon event, and he loves being in London. Regarding Kyren, he states that he is not concerned about sacrificing safety and admits that the two have been fierce competitors since they were young players and that he was motivated by the rivalry since sport requires it. Although they are “not friendly enough to want to lose to him,” they are now friendlier.
Naturally, JUDD
is the current champion, and his performance has improved significantly from this time last year. Although he’s extremely skilled at finding a way to win, Kyren isn’t put off by him, and if his cue-ball control is flawless, he poses a real threat.
DING JUNHUI HAILS ‘SPECIAL’ RONNIE O’SULLIVAN FOR ABILITY TO DELIVER UNDER PRESSE Following the Rocket’s defeat at the Masters, Ding Junhui, the Rocket’s defeated opponent, referred to Ronnie O’Sullivan as “special” due to his capacity to handle pressure in top snooker.
Ding, who had been behind 4-0 at one point in the match, came storming back to tie the score with a brilliant 147.
However, O’Sullivan maintained his poise to break Ding’s momentum, win the following two sets, and advance to the quarterfinals at Alexandra Palace in London.
After the match, Ding stated to Rachel Casey of Eurosport: “I’ve spent the most time of my career with him in the last few weeks.”
Ding remarked, “In the [last] few weeks I’ve spent the most time I’ve spent with him in my career,” in an interview with Rachel Casey of Eurosport.I believe that he still aspires to be the winner. There might be too much pressure at times, but he knows how to play to his skill. I haven’t yet reached that degree.”He is admired by the best players because he always understands how to perform under pressure, on difficult days, and in trying circumstances in between games. “That’s how special [he is].”
