Jayson Tatum said he wants to quit playing with Celtics due to…
Jayson Tatum talks candidly about his experience playing in Boston and his desire to lead the Celtics to victory.
The majority of that was related to what Boston sports had done to the teams Tatum had grown up cheering for. In Super Bowl XXXVI, he saw his local St. Louis Rams defeated by the New England Patriots, and in the 2008 NBA Finals, he witnessed the Boston Celtics defeat Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers.
“Honestly, I didn’t understand how special of a place Boston was until I got here,” Tatum said. “I was not fond of Boston. In my opinion, the Rams’ decision to leave [St. Louis] was influenced by their victory over them. After that, we were never good. They defeated Kobe in 2008, which made me very angry.
However, this is a unique location,” Tatum went on. “They adore their boys and their sports teams. Additionally, I feel as though they have welcomed me as one of their boys and have embraced me. Here, you have to play with an edge and feel a feeling of pride. I know how much affection I get today, so I can only image what it must be like. If you were to hang one of those banners, I can only image the love and reception.
