“High School Basketball Sensation Mirrors Wilt Chamberlain’s Unprecedented Feat”
When someone is named alongside Wilt Chamberlain, it’s usually an indication that they’ve accomplished something noteworthy.
Being the only player to score 100 points in a single game is only one of the incredible all-time NBA records held by the famous Los Angeles Lakers center, who many believe is unreachable in the modern game.
For instance, Wilt is thought to be the only player in NBA history to record a quintuple-double.
A player achieves a quintuple-double when he logs at least ten points, ten rebounds, ten assists, ten steals, and ten blocks in one game. However, his record isn’t legitimate because the NBA stopped counting steals and blocks in 1968.
But now ‘Wilt the Stilt’ has company in that area, thanks to a legendary quintuple-double that high school student Kieonna Christmas recently posted.
In a victory back in December, Christmas, a senior at Fonda-Fultonville in New York, ended with 11 points, 20 rebounds, 11 assists, 10 steals, and 10 blocks.
Fans celebrated her amazing feat on social media after seeing footage of her recording the unprecedented stat-line.
“No matter what she does after this – her legend isn’t a myth, it’s forever,” an admirer commented.
“From Wilt’s family line? Just unbelievable,” said a second.
“Half the grail for sure,” commented a third.
I haven’t heard of anyone engaging in this behavior. A fourth commented, “She dope fr for this.”
Christmas is a 6′ 3″ center/power forward in the Fonda-Fultonville class of 2024.
Remarkably, high school basketball is far more prevalent than the NBA and WNBA when it comes to the renowned quintuple-double.
Over the years, about thirteen high school players have purportedly recorded a quintuple-double.
The first athlete in history to be officially recognized for achieving a quintuple-double (25 points, 18 rebounds, 11 assists, 10 steals, and 10 blocks) is WNBA star Tamika Catchings.
In 2011, Aquillin Hayes also tallied three quintuple-doubles.
Male players only managed three of the three quintuple-doubles that were officially documented.
There are just four NBA players in history who have ever produced a quadruple-double (double figures in four statistical categories), and Chamberlain is the only guy who is thought to have achieved the stat-line.
They are as follows:
22 points, 14 rebounds, 13 assists, and 12 blocks for Nate Thurmond in 1974
20 points, 11 rebounds, 10 assists, and 10 steals for Alvin Robertson in 1986
1990: 18 points, 16 rebounds, 11 blocks, and 10 assists for Hakeem Olajuwon
34 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists, and 10 blocks for David Robinson in 1994
Although players haven’t recorded a quadruple-double in the NBA in thirty years, they have gone dangerously close.
Victor Wembanyama, a rookie for the San Antonio Spurs, recently posted a triple-double of 27 points, 14 rebounds, 10 blocks, and five assists—that is, he only had five assists.
