Goals not “end goal”: Jarell Quansah aims for “one of the best” tags in nine Liverpool games.

Jarell Quansah of Liverpool maintains that he is not considered one of the greatest players in history, thus he hasn’t accomplished anything to date.

This season, the defender made his breakthrough at Anfield and gained manager Jurgen Klopp’s trust.

This month, the manager expressed his surprise at Quansah’s quick rise. Quansah spent the second half of the previous season in League One with Bristol Rovers, so Liverpool had contemplated sending him out on loan once more.

However, the England Under-21 international has now made nine appearances for the Reds this season after making his Young Lions debut last month.

For the aspirational 20-year-old, who wants to leave a lasting impression on the game, it is insufficient.

“No, his season has not exceeded expectations,” he stated, adding that nobody had yet declared Jarell Quansah to be among the world’s best players.

“Oh yeah, I’ve played nine games for Liverpool,” I reply, based on what I have. That was never the intended outcome.

All I ever wanted to be was a winner. Since I was little, I have detested losing. My tears would come when I lost. My weekend is still ruined and other things when I lose.

“It serves no purpose to set objectives that you believe you can accomplish. It would be wiser to just set a lofty goal since you never know what you can achieve.

Although the word “surprised” might be considered intriguing, I believe Klopp is implying that I wasn’t anticipated to be there at all.

“I don’t believe it wasI’ve trained with him previously, so it’s unexpected that he’s not

It’s not expected of me to enter the first team right away and perform as well as I did while on loan at Bristol Rovers. That is the source of the surprise.

Quansah made his debut in August during Liverpool’s thrilling 2-1 victory over Newcastle. Joel Matip was injured, and Quansah replaced him after Virgil Van Dijk was sent off.

In the Reds’ 3-2 Europa League loss in Toulouse last week, he also had a goal disallowed. Trent Alexander-Arnold, Curtis Jones, and Harvey Elliott have all offered advice.

“They just say enjoy it,” he remarked. Although it may seem obvious and corny, young center halves often choose to play it safe, not give their all, and not perform as well as they would at other levels simply because they are playing at a higher level.

They say that helps you unwind a little, so when I’m told to enjoy it, I can just play freely. I don’t need to stress about making mistakes because they will undoubtedly occur.

“It’s hard to recall a player who had an impeccable career without any mistakes; that’s just how you learn, so I’m just going to have fun and try my hardest.”

Quansah is currently getting ready to fly to Serbia on Friday for the Euro 2025 qualifier on Saturday in Backa Topola. On Tuesday, he will play Northern Ireland in Group F at Goodison Park.

After crushing Serbia 9-1 at the City Ground, Lee Carsley’s team lost 3-2 to Ukraine late last month, leaving them second in the group.

England lost to Ukraine in Poland 2-2 after trailing 2-0, but Quansah is glad to have learned the lesson. This was only England’s third qualifying loss since 2011.

“They were going for a sucker punch, and we didn’t lock the game down the way we should have,” he stated.

“As we discovered against Ukraine, things are definitely going to be different (in Serbia).” Traveling far from home is never easy.
