Global Polo Entertainment and ESPN Extend Historical Agreement Until 2024
The U.S. Polo Association presents Global Polo Entertainment, which is expanding access to the action-packed sport of polo, by extending its historic agreement with ESPN until 2024.
The historic partnership between Global Polo Entertainment (GPE) and ESPN has been extended for a further two years, starting January 1, 2023. Global Polo Entertainment is the entertainment and media subsidiary of USPA Global Licensing Inc. (USPAGL). U.S. Polo Association is run by USPAGL.

The first arrangement, which was struck in 2022, was a historic contract between the two parties that exposed the game of polo to millions of homes throughout the globe and multiple digital platforms. It also extended to many regions of the United States.
According to Stewart Armstrong, Chairman of the USPA, “the USPA views the ESPN relationship with great optimism for attracting an entirely new generation of young men and women to the greatest game on four legs.” “On the U.S. Polo Association Field at the brand-new USPA National Polo Center (NPC) – Wellington, two exceptional athletes—human and equine—will engage in a fierce competition to determine who is the greatest. Their skill will only serve to highlight their amazing connection. The upcoming season is going to be great.
Year two of the partnership is expected to bring even more attention to sports’ “best kept secret” after airing several of the world’s top polo tournaments in 2022, including the thrilling XII Federation of International Polo (FIP) World Polo Championship Opening Ceremony starring the USA Team. The complex deal will once more allow ESPN platforms to air the championship matches of the biggest American polo competitions. The ESPN App will offer on-demand access to games, as well as distribution on ESPN2, ESPNU, and ESPNEWS.
The U.S. Open Polo Championship® and U.S. Open Women’s Polo Championship®, the most prestigious tournament in North America, the National Intercollegiate Championship (NIC) games for men and women, and the Westchester Cup, the oldest polo rivalry in history between the United States and England, will all be played in 2023.
ESPN will once more air a number of 25-minute GPE-produced made-for-television shows in addition to the games. “Global Polo presented by U.S. Polo Association” is the name of the show.
