The New York Giants are having a terrible start to the 2023 NFL season. Quarterback Daniel Jones was signed by the front administration to a four-year, $160 million agreement in the summer after the team qualified for the playoffs under Coach of the Year Brian Daboll’s watch. Jones played error-free football in 2022 and was effective both on the ground and in the air. His performance was sufficient to earn it. Jones is acting in the exact opposite way thus far this year. Though he has been one of the least productive quarterbacks when it comes to passing, his rushing stats are impressive. He has six interceptions through four games, which ties him for the NFL lead. Daboll breaks down after Jones intercepts him. It all reached a boiling point on Monday night against the Seattle Seahawks. Jones threw two interceptions, and the Giants managed just three points in total. Firstly, a botched play from the Seahawks five-yard line resulted in a 97-yard pick-six by Devon Witherspoon. When Daboll viewed the throw afterward on the tablet, he was obviously irritated because it was such a bad decision.

 

Jones did not finish there. Later, when the team attempted to get back into the game, he threw another interception. Daboll was questioned about the “altercation” on the sidelines after the game. He claimed he was attempting to understand Jones’ viewpoint regarding his throwing choice. “Obviously, not throw an interception,” was his reply when asked what he wanted the quarterback to perform on the play.
