Flames vs. Bruins 2/6 | NHL 2024 Highlights
Boston (AP) — The Flames defeated the Boston Bruins 4-1 on Tuesday night, led by three assists from Nazem Kadri and a goal from Andrei Kuzmenko in his Calgary debut.
In a lackluster comeback from the All-Star break for the Bruins, the Flames held Atlantic Division-and Eastern Conference-leading Boston to five shots in the second period. Jonathan Huberdeau had a goal and two assists, while Connor Zary also scored for the team.
“Clearly one of our best games of the year against a top team in a challenging venue,” Kadri remarked. “I’m really proud of how we pulled together, how we overcame some hardship, and how we produced a significant two points.”
Jacob Markstrom stopped 21 shots for Calgary. Boston native Noah Hanifin added a late goal for the Flames.
Early in the third period, Pavel Zacha scored for the Bruins, who had a lackluster first game of a seven-game homestand.
When questioned about Boston’s numerous errors, Bruins defenseman Charlie McAvoy responded, “Physical. Mental. Both.” We simply didn’t perform well enough tonight. They obviously outperformed us and practice didn’t translate.
Zacha’s goal was assisted by David Pastrnak, and Boston’s Jeremy Swayman had 25 saves in all.
“It can be a humble experience every night in this league, so to be honest, I don’t think I’m going to look too far into it,” McAvoy remarked. “As the top team in our conference, we will continue to draw in the greatest players, even more than in the past. Thus, knowing this is beneficial to us.
