Five Leeds United players could leave during the January transfer window if they are offered a loan.
During the January transfer window, a few Leeds United players may be hoping to go on loan from Elland Road.
Although Leeds United’s roster appears to be set for now, several players may look to go on loan as the January transfer window draws near. Here are five players who you can bet your bottom dollar that they will be looking for chances to play elsewhere in 2019.
Joe Gelhardt
Gelhardt has simply not performed well this season, and as things stand, he is positioned far lower in Farke’s attacking hierarchy. This season, the striker has only made five league appearances; his last appearance at any level came on September 17 when he came off the bench against Millwall.
After suffering a hand injury recently, Gelhardt hasn’t even been included in a matchday squad since mid-October, and going forward, it appears very unlikely that he will see any playing time. To advance and reach his full potential in the game, the 21-year-old needs playing time, and it appears that a loan would be the best choice for him.
If Gelhardt were made available, a plethora of Championship teams would undoubtedly be interested in signing him, and the forward would undoubtedly be eager to move on and make his mark elsewhere.
Charlie Cresswell
Currently, Cresswell must be one of the Leeds team’s most irritated players. Despite being a regular while on loan at Millwall last season, he has made just four league appearances under Farke, and he would have expected to see more action this time around.
Although the England U21 international still has a bright future at Elland Road, it’s difficult to see how he will break into the starting lineup at this time. There will be plenty of teams interested in the defender, and although Leeds doesn’t want to lose their fourth-choice center back for the season, they also need to consider what’s best for Cresswell at this point in his career.
Similar to Gelhardt, it appears unlikely that Joseph will receive the necessary playing time in the upcoming months. The England U20 international has been a consistent member of the club’s youth team lately, but if he wants to advance as a player, he must play at a higher level.
