Durant made an impression on the Suns after winning his comeback to Brooklyn.
After scoring 33 points to ensure the Phoenix Suns’ triumphant return to Brooklyn, Kevin Durant is pleased with the direction the team is going.
In his first game back in Brooklyn following his trade to Phoenix almost a year ago, Durant hit 10 of 16 from the floor and added eight assists as the Suns defeated the Nets 136-120.
The Suns were on a roll, led by Jusuf Nurkic (28 points, 11 rebounds), Devin Booker (22 points), and Eric Gordon (17 points).
The Suns’ victory at Barclays Center marked their ninth victory in their previous 11 NBA contests. Their next two opponents are the Atlanta Hawks on Friday and the Washington Wizards on Sunday.
After the game, Durant remarked, “We were just floating from two to three games under.500 and.500 for the most of the year,” according to ESPN.
“As we look up, we’re 28-20 and have a decent chance to go 10 games over.500 in our next two away games.
We’re hoping to be 30-20 when we head home after 50 games, and I think we’re in a good spot.
“The entire season is hard work, especially with the new players, coaching staff, squad, and lineup changes. We are making progress toward establishing some continuity, which is necessary.”
Although there was a lot of excitement surrounding Durant’s reunion with his old team, Suns coach Frank Vogel was pleased with his ability to concentrate on the task at hand.
Vogel called it a “hell of a performance.” “He prioritized the group.
“He showed up to compete, played basketball with his team first, contributed eight assists, and on multiple other occasions, made the extra pass to let his teammates play through his double teams.
“He played a team-first type of game and ended up with 33 and eight.”
Durant played with Kyrie Irving and James Harden for nearly four years in Brooklyn. However, the Nets only won one postseason series, and the stars only played 16 games together.
The two-time NBA champion shared his memories of that period, but he claimed he didn’t think back on what may have been and instead chose to concentrate on the realities of his time wearing a Nets uniform.
Durant responded, “No, I don’t think about what could have been; I think that’s just a waste of time.” What took place. That’s what was on my mind: the truth of what truly transpired.
We were unable to spend enough time together. That is all. The guys were ready to part ways.
“Together, we made every effort to salvage everything. Between the time I signed here and the time I left, we had three or four different teams.
“But at the end of the day, I enjoyed going to work, representing Brooklyn, playing for this community, and coming to work regardless of what happened, what was said, or how I was feeling.
“Every year, I was an All-Star. Every year, I received the most votes in the All-Star games. A lot of jerseys were sold. [Averaged] 30 [made] All-NBA, averaged 50-40-90.
