Cincinnati — In the NFL Draft of 2024, might Georgia tight end Brock Bowers actually be selected by the Bengals with the 18th pick?
One argument given by Daniel Jeremiah for the top prospect’s potential dip has nothing to do with his skill as a player.
Due to positional value in terms of money, some teams won’t be willing to draft a tight end in the top 10. It is far more economical and valuable to have a cornerback, offensive tackle, or wide receiver on a rookie contract.
“I’m already paying top of the market price for my rookie tight end,” Jeremiah stated. “I’m not really getting that rookie contract benefit.”
It is noteworthy that in Jeremiah’s most recent mock draft, Bowers is selected by the Bengals.
Lance Zierlein has Bowers placed fourth on his big board. If he does fall to Cincinnati at No. 18, he would probably be their best player.
