‘I don’t think age is really an issue,’ replies Ronnie O’Sullivan in response to his third-place finish in the 2024 World Grand Prix.

When Ronnie O’Sullivan plays snooker, he says he feels younger than he actually is and that age is irrelevant at the table. The top-seeded Judd Trump was defeated 10-7 by the world No. 1 after the match at the Morningside Arena in Leicester. Trump was referred to as a “warrior” by the world No. 1 himself, who had loved playing against him.

Playing snooker, according to Ronnie O’Sullivan, makes him feel younger than he actually is since age is irrelevant at the table.
In an exciting World Grand Prix final in Leicester’s Morningside Arena, The Rocket defeated Judd Trump 10-7 to win his third title in the tournament.

In addition to the UK Championship and Masters championships he won in December and the first part of January, O’Sullivan’s victory today makes it three major victories in 50 days.

After the match, O’Sullivan told ITV Sport that he felt the least like his 48 years old at the snooker table.
After struggling to defeat Cao, Trump advances to the World Grand Prix final.
Zhou loses to O’Sullivan in the decisive frame to advance to the World Grand Prix quarterfinals.
He remarked, “I feel young in my head when I play snooker.” “I realize that 48 is just a number, but I feel like I lose about 20 years when I play.”I feel so alive. I don’t think age is truly a problem at the table as long as I still feel young. My experience is assisting me. I’ve been around for a while, have a ton of experience, and have won a ton of tournaments.

I now know a lot more about the game. I think my all-around game is better now than it has ever been.
In the championship match, O’Sullivan recovered masterfully to erase a 4-0 lead that had arisen from a quick start by world No. 1 Donald Trump and a few careless misses.
Although he managed to win three frames in the afternoon session and was behind 5-3 at the halfway point, he really found his rhythm in the evening session, rallying to tie the match at six frames apiece before winning with a small error in the penultimate game.

It was a welcome change of pace to hear O’Sullivan state that he had relished the clash with the Bristolian “warrior” after being cited so frequently as saying he had a falling out with the sport.
“It was enjoyable. I truly did, I had fun playing the game,” the three-time winner remarked.
I was feeling a little rough at the beginning of the week, but once I got an air fryer and a smoothie machine, I started eating a little better and felt [better]. Eating junk food makes me feel funny, therefore I don’t like to do that.”As the week progressed, I began to feel better. Last night, I played some of my finest snooker against Ding. I felt a little more confident going in today.

I thought this would be an early night, a 10-1 job, as he blasted me off the table 4-0. This afternoon, I was able to steal a couple of frames. 5-3 offered me a glimmer of hope. After I emerged, I reasoned that I should just enjoy the fight and try to see what would happen because Judd is a fierce opponent. He’s the favorite to win the World Championship this year, in my opinion.

Regarding the Sheffield competition, O’Sullivan emphasized that consistency is crucial throughout the three months leading up to it.
“I have three months to try to improve my consistency because you need it coming into Sheffield,” he remarked.
“To win, all you need to do is remain consistent; exceptional play is not necessary. Between now and then, I’d like to find a little consistency so that I may try to enjoy Sheffield. Having a little fun with it would be wonderful.

Despite building a four-frame lead, Trump, who has already lost two final matches in this competition, did not think he had played particularly well in the opening exchanges.
He admitted, “I didn’t really start well.” “Ronnie and I both missed a few. The quality wasn’t great, but Ronnie did his part when it counted. He made some pretty nice clearances, some significant breaks, and a few crucial frames. Tonight he was more safer; he was scoring little more heavily and getting in first.

That second session included a lot of highs and lows. I rattled the brown ball there after a couple of balls, the black one being, I believe, a bit of a kick to go 7-7. He earned more points, and tonight he had some excellent long potting. A well-earned victory for him.
“Although losing is never pleasant, it was enjoyable to play Ronnie in another final.” It’s usually a fun game, and I always like playing him.”
