Dominique Wilkins calls JJ Redick foolish and Dennis Rodman delusional for his remarks on Larry Bird.
Dominique Wilkins calls out JJ Redick’s “stupid” remarks and upholds Larry Bird’s excellence, dispelling Dennis Rodman’s skepticism.
Wilkins calls Rodman’s assertion that Bird would struggle in the NBA now unrealistic.
He takes issue with JJ Redick’s assertion that Bird’s style wouldn’t translate to the less physical, modern NBA.
Wilkins highlights Bird’s enduring abilities and disparages players who prioritize social media recognition over actual basketball expertise.
Dominique Wilkins is a legend in the NBA who doesn’t hold back. He criticized JJ Redick’s contentious remarks regarding Larry Bird’s skills and Dennis Rodman’s skepticism of Bird’s greatness in a recent interview.
During a recent interview with Vlad TV’s Vladimir Lyubovny, Wilkins attacked Rodman and Reddick, saying:
“Dennis has my respect. Much obliged, Dennis. No, Dennis wasn’t a good guy; that’s just wishful thinking. illusory. Larry Bird was able to do the same type of play in any era as he did in ours. It was unable to manage him. The players of today could not handle him. Exactly.”
“He is a moron. Since Larry Bird embodied the most physically demanding era in basketball history, it’s really a dumb remark. He was physically fit enough to declare that he wouldn’t be participating in this league because it is too physically demanding, despite being 6’10” and almost 6’11”.
What league, exactly, are you watching? There is no longer any physicality. It’s not the same as it was in the past, and nobody is to blame. Simply said, times change. And that’s the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard JJ Redick say.”
