DeBrusk Still Needs to Complete Something in Boston
In an interview with Jimmy Murphy of Boston Hockey Now, DeBrusk talked about his impending free agency following this season, his future in the Black and Gold, and his goal of winning a Stanley Cup for the team that selected him.
Of sure, DeBrusk replied. I believe I was asked for the first time in the summer, but that’s what I’ve always said. I grew up here, so obviously I’ve changed and developed in other ways, but this is all I know. It’s one of those situations when I wish I could win. In 2019, we were one game away from winning the Cup in Boston. That is my sole emphasis, then.
The 14th overall choice in the 2015 Entry Draft is now in the last year of a $8 million, two-year contract that he signed just prior to the 2022 trade deadline and has an average annual value (AAV) of $4 million. It’s unclear what general manager (GM) Don Sweeney would have available cap space in the upcoming summer for a new contract with the Bruins.
