Curtis Jones is one of the “most talented players I’ve worked with,” according to the England coach.
Under Jurgen Klopp’s guidance, Curtis Jones has developed consistently each year, and his former England coach has praised his skill set, calling him one of the “most talented” players he has ever worked with.
At the age of 22, Jones has reached the senior level in international youth football and must now wait for a call-up from England manager Gareth Southgate.
The midfielder, a vital member of Klopp’s team, should have been in contention based on his performances thus far this season before he was forced to retire due to injury before the November break.
The England under-21s manager Lee Carsley, among others who have worked with Jones, has not been surprised by his rise. Jones is a hard worker who has clearly matured with each passing season in the first team.
Carsley recently stated, via the Echo, “I’m not surprised one bit (by how Jones has been doing), similar to Cole [Palmer].” “Curtis is among the most gifted players I have ever collaborated with.”
He possesses all the necessary qualities for a midfield player. He just needs the right opportunity to show off his skills. He can run, is incredibly fast, powerful, can score, can help defend, and can take the ball.
“Every time I’ve watched him play, he’s played brilliantly. All he had to do was stay in shape.
“I know he’s had difficulty playing consistently at times, but it’s amazing to watch him translate the form, responsibility, and positional understanding he displayed in the summer into playing for Liverpool.”
These qualities are starting to show up in Jones’ game every week, so it wouldn’t surprise many if he was called back into the starting lineup at Man City if he was healthy enough to do so.
Along with Tyler Morton, Jarell Quansah and Harvey Elliott were included in Carsley’s squad for this month’s internationals, and both have shown promise.
“A player that we have got a lot of faith in and we see him as a real high potential,” Carsley said of Elliott. Not only on the field, but off it as well, I’ve been impressed by his development.
Quansah, on the other hand, was commended for being a player who can “handle and take in their stride” any challenge that is thrown at them and for being “very level-headed.”
Three talented young people, each with a part to play in this season and the next.
