Will Jaylen take part in the Dunk Contest in 2025? The post C’s star provides excellent response first surfaced on NBC Sports. Boston
For his dunk selections and execution in the 2024 NBA Dunk Contest, Jaylen Brown received some criticism. And it seems as though he doesn’t give a damn.
The Boston Celtics player was questioned on Thursday about if he would think about trying again in the 2025 Dunk Contest after making it to the finals of the competition last Saturday at NBA All-Star Weekend and losing to Mac McClung.
“I’ll do it again if they ask me and nobody cares to do it, f— it,” Brown retorted, as reported by Jared Weiss of The Athletic.
Being the first All-Star to compete in the Dunk Contest since Victor Oladipo in 2018 made Brown extremely proud. He even went so far as to criticize the “abandonment” of the competition, which once attracted well-known figures like Dwight Howard, Vince Carter, Michael Jordan, and Dominique Wilkins.
He clarified a few things regarding one of his efforts, but it doesn’t seem that any backlash from his dunk decisions on Saturday has stopped him either.
In what appeared to be a nod to former Celtic Dee Brown in the 1991 Dunk Contest, Brown leaped over seated YouTuber Kai Cenat for his second dunk of the competition. He then finished the one-handed dunk and put his face to his forearm. Brown uploaded a video of himself doing the Dee Brown impersonation on his Instagram account on Wednesday night.
Following his somewhat unsuccessful try on Saturday night, Brown stated, “I thought the court was a little slick,” according to CLNS Media. “I wish I could have really done what I planned to do in my head or what I practiced, but I still think the message got sent and I had fun when I was doing it, so I can live with those results.”
Brown deserves credit for putting himself out there, even though he didn’t blow doors in the competition on Saturday. Although it’s unknown if he would receive an invitation to return in 2025, it would be a huge victory for the NBA if he could persuade other celebrities to come out.
The Celtics, led by Brown, will face the Bulls on Thursday night in Chicago. NBC Sports Boston will telecast the tip-off at 8 p.m. ET.

The article evaluating the West and the Warriors’ most important games in the closing stretch first appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area.
When the Los Angeles Lakers visit Chase Center on Thursday night, it will be the first of many games with significant consequences for the Warriors. In the standings, the clubs are separated by 1.5 games, and tiebreakers are always significant.
At Chase on January 27, the Warriors fell short against LA in extra OT. The Lakers would essentially win the head-to-head tiebreaker with a second loss. Moreover, it would be a disastrous loss with LeBron James sidelined.
