According to Shams Charania of Stadium and The Athletic, the Golden State Warriors have dealt guard Cory Joseph and cash to the Indiana Pacers in exchange for a second-round lottery pick.
Tony East, a Pacers beat writer, provided some details:
Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports that the Pacers will waive Joseph.
Thirteen-year NBA veteran Joseph, 32, has averaged 11.4 minutes per game with 1.6 assists and 2.4 points on 35.9 percent shooting (31.0 percent from three). The former Texas star has appeared in 26 games, all as a substitute.
Warriors Talk provided additional context for the Dubs’ move:
Even though the Warriors started the day 11th in the Western Conference with a 23–25 record, the Joseph deal was the only move they made before the 3 p.m. ET deadline.
Head coach Steve Kerr stated on Wednesday that the Warriors believe they can succeed with their current core.
The Warriors talked about acquiring talent with two players: guard Alex Caruso of the Chicago Bulls and winger Bojan Bogdanovic of the Detroit Pistons, who is currently a member of the New York Knicks.
The Warriors ultimately chose to stick with their current team.
The Pacers, on the other hand, made a number of moves to prepare for a postseason run after acquiring Pascal Siakam in a blockbuster trade in January.
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Indiana traded Buddy Hield to the Philadelphia 76ers in exchange for Marcus Morris, Furkan Korkmaz, and three second-round picks.
According to Shams Charania of Stadium and The Athletic, the Pacers then traded Doug McDermott to the San Antonio Spurs in exchange for Morris, a second-round pick, and cash. We’ll waive Korkmaz, according to Wojnarowski.
Indiana had a 29-23 record going into Thursday, which was good for sixth place in the East.
