Coparenting twins with her ex-husband Al Pacino, according to Beverly D’Angelo, results in “a Deeper Kind of Intimacy”
On Monday, May 8, Beverly D’Angelo posted a heartfelt video to Instagram that featured a trip down memory lane.
The 71-year-old heroine of National Lampoon’s Vacation gave fans a wealth of old and new family pictures and videos as she discussed her relationship with her ex-husband Al Pacino and detailed their transition from lovers to coparents and friends.
In a self-recorded video, D’Angelo gave an explanation of how their romance began: “In 1996, we were traveling from Los Angeles to New York on the same plane.” “He was seated in front of me, he said come up and sit beside me and by the time the plane landed, it was on.”
The Violent Night star went on, “He looked me in the eye and said, ‘I want you to be the mother of my children.'” “Although I’d avoided that role my whole life, I was deeply in love and I was 100 percent in.”
With great effort and the wonders of contemporary science, we completed our first round of in vitro fertilization in 1997, and the couple welcomed twins Anton and Olivia, who are now 21 years old.
Sadly, D’Angelo said that the actor from The Godfather and his partner’s relationship “got complicated” quickly and that their “split was finalized in 2004.”
The former couple didn’t have a romantic relationship, but their bond as parents and mothers remained strong.
“The power of our love for our children was the basis for resolving any conflicts and creating a new history as co-parents, leading individual lives separately but always intertwined as a family,” D’Angelo expressed, as she mentioned the duo maintains “a unique and profound friendship between two artists that endures to this day.”
The Every Which Way but Loose actress ended in the video, “Through thick and thin, 27 years now of doing it our way — and there you have it,” before going into further detail in the post’s caption.
“We lived together for seven years, had two children, broke up, but continued steadily on our journey as co parents — and came to share our lives with a deeper kind of intimacy, honesty and acceptance than a ‘traditional’ relationship would have allowed, (for us at least),” D’Angelo wrote alongside the video.
