Sam Howell, the quarterback, completed 12 of 23 passes for 123 yards and one interception. In addition, he gained 21 yards and two rushing touchdowns on four rushes. Howell has never had more than one rushing touchdown in a single game in his career.
In 2009, Howell (335) surpassed Jason Campbell (327) to tie the franchise record for the fourth-most completions in a single season.
With 243 rushing yards in a single season, Howell surpassed quarterbacks Joe Theismann (234 in 1983), Jason Campbell (236 in 2009), and Sammy Baugh (240 in 1937) for the eighth-most in franchise history.
Howell scored his season-high fifth touchdown via rushing. He now shares the second-most rushing touchdowns by a Washington quarterback in a single season with Kirk Cousins (five in 2015). Robert Griffin III holds the franchise record after scoring seven touchdowns on the ground in 2012.
Along with Kirk Cousins, Robert Griffin III, Mark Rypien, and Norm Snead, Howell is the fifth quarterback in franchise history to rush for multiple touchdowns in a single game.
Howell is the first quarterback to have six or more rushing touchdowns in his first 14 career games since Josh Allen (2018–2019).
Jacoby Brissett, the quarterback, played his first snaps as a Washington Commander.
Brian Robinson Jr., the running back, gained 53 yards on seven rushes. His 53 sprinting.
sprinting back Antonio Gibson gained 35 yards on 10 carries. In addition, he added four 37-yard receptions.
Curtis Samuel, a wide receiver, hauled in four passes for 65 yards on average.
Protection
Protective Tackle It was Daron Payne’s 50th career tackle for loss. He recorded one.
Protective Tackle Jonathan Allen recorded his 15th quarterback hit of the year. He is one of only two Washington players to have at least 15 quarterback hits in back-to-back seasons (Andre Carter, 2007–2009; Ryan Kerrigan, 2016–2018). He has recorded at least 15 quarterback hits in three straight seasons (2021–2023).
Protective J. Henry, the end, was tackled for a loss.
Protective Quan Martin, a back, recorded his first-ever tackle for loss.
Khaleke Hudson, a linebacker, has five career quarterback hits, but only one this season.
Jamin Davis, a linebacker, recorded his 19th and 20th tackles for loss. He added a pass defense as well.
Along with Ryan Kerrigan, Brian Orakpo, and LaVar Arrington, Davis is the fourth Washington linebacker since 2000 to record 20 or more tackles for loss in their first three seasons.
Percy Butler, a safety, recorded a pass defense. In five of the previous six games, he has had at least one pass defensed.
Casey Toohill, a defensive end, had one tackle for loss.
Special Teams
- Punter Tress Way punted five times for 214 yards. He pinned two inside the 20.
