Colin Cowherd: The Reasons This Boston Celtics Team Won’t Ever Take the Crown
Colin Cowherd: “Boston consistently crushes a lot of teams by a lot. For the past three seasons, I’ve watched Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, Marcus Smart, and Jrue Holiday completely dominate teams. Both this season and the previous, they have the most point differential in the NBA. In 2021, they came in second in point-differential. I received one trip to the Finals, but no trophies, and they blew a lead. I apologize, but they are turning into the Buffalo Bills.
The Dame/Giannis situation aside, the Eastern Conference is surprisingly weak; their defense has regressed. Forget about them; Embiid was hurt. The Cavs are hot, cold, and young, the Knicks’ offensive options are very restricted, Brunson is hurt, Randle has been [hurt], and Orlando? Please give me a moment. When playing the East, the Celtics are 33-6. This has been happening to me for almost six years. While I have no doubts about Boston, this has happened before. We saw those legendary Sacramento Kings teams fail to win a championship. We saw those legendary Bills teams that were never crowned, led by Hall of Famer Jim Kelly.
The Chiefs defense is young and still improving, and they have Mahomes, one of the best quarterbacks in the game, but this Buffalo Bills team doesn’t feel like they’re heading to the Super Bowl. Boston seems to have that vibe to it. You don’t have somebody as good as Jokic, which makes Denver better than you.
Porzingis has experienced injuries in the past. The genuine defense player, Jrue Holiday, will turn 34 in the next year. Individuals that perform at that caliber of defense mature somewhat faster than those who simply come down and jack it up. They are 0-1 and 1-1 against the Lakers.
